He weeps…

Life can be rough sometimes!
You don’t have to go far to know that reality.

Turn on your tv and within seconds you’ll see news stories of war, famine, persecution, injustice…. PAIN!

But, we’re slightly removed from what is on tv… so it may not impact us that much!

So we turn to the local papers, and hear of stabbings near us, or funerals of good friends from years past; maybe it’s all slightly still removed from us!

But then it hits home: your health, or families health; your job situation, finances; your emotional and mental wellbeing; someone’s died, had an affair, lost a job, gotten a divorce, lost a baby, is in an abusive relationship… the list can go on!!!

Life can get rough!

You may not know these pains and difficulty first hand, but I’m sure you know someone who does! And chances are, you know some form of pain and roughness because life isn’t easy!

So, what do you do then, in those moments? Do you ride out the storm by yourself… knowing you’re strong and independent? Do you rely on friends and family? What about when they’re not there?

It’s tough… It’s emotional…

I know I’ve had times in my life where I’ve felt broken… with no one to lean on!

As a minister I am blessed to have many conversations with people, often times journeying into faith, that ask lots of questions. In the tough situations of life, I’m often asked if God cares about our pain and suffering?

My answer is always yes!!! Of course He does!
You know, the shortest verse in the Bible is John 11:35 and it says this:

Jesus Wept!

Let that sink in for a moment!
Jesus, the son of God, God embodied… weeps…
And why you might be asking yourself? what’s the context?
He weeps over the death of a friend Lazarus!

After weeping, and mourning with friends, Jesus then does the miraculous, and revives Lazarus!!! Wow!

Why do I share this? Well, simply because often times God is the last one we think of to lean on! The world often thinks of God as distant, angry and non-caring. More worried about judging us than anything else.

But the reality is, God cares and loves us! He loves us so much that embodied in Jesus He came to the earth, to be among us and to bring us eternal life!!

That’s a big concept, and maybe a thought for a different day…BUT…

Jesus is ready and waiting to be in a relationship with you. He is ready for you to lean on Him. He is weeping with you! Are you ready to let go of whatever is stopping you from leaning on Him?

You might be thinking, how do I lean on someone I can’t see? Well, there’s loads to that question, and it starts by stepping into a relationship with Jesus, and then stepping into a church, and leaning on those who are called to live like Him.

You’re never alone. God is always there, in your life by the power of His Holy Spirit, reaching out, through people around you, or through different signs and wonders, or maybe even through this blog, right now?

Question is, will you let yourself lean on Him?
